I got this for my WWII buff boyfriend for Christmas.It was a perfect gift. He immediately took it into the bathroom and didn't come out for two hours. I'm assuming it was because he enjoyed the book so much, and not because of the food my sister made. Either way, it was a great gift. My only suggestion would be that it was sent in more than just an envelope. Or at least something that says "do not bend". My mailman stuffed it into my mailbox and bent it up on the edges.

This was from me to my old man this holiday gift sharing occasion. I have never personally given my Dad a gift that he seemed even remotely interested in. Nor has my mother. And not my many brothers. He is a nice, sweet man. It is just seemingly impossible to give him something that gets him. Until now.....He and I, Pops and Me, have a few things in common. Most are not applicable in this review, but we are both loco for history. Especially American History. This book looked very intriguing as it is beautiful in its 500 photographs. Im not a phd in history but i know facts much better than i have accurate visuals for them. This book provided that. So my Dad opened the paper and glanced at the book. In a noncommittal way he said he would look forward to looking at it later. As he moved to set it down, and my hopes were dashed again, he last minute brought it back to him and opened it up! And he dropped out of conversation for 20 minutes, engrossed in this book he didn't even seem interested in at first. When i tried to bring into the chat he was distracted and flipping all about this masterpiece.So that is all the review i think anyone would need, eh? enjoy it as a history fan or surprise someone with something like this. when you know you know, ya' know?haribol and HK

This is a really nice book. I bought it for my husband as a gift. Heâ€™s been a little obsessed with WW II from a young age (heck, he got a whole set of Encyclopedias at the age of ten and has held onto them 47 years later over many other material items).My interest and knowledge does not run as deep as his, so take my five stars for what itâ€™s worth. I wanted to review mainly to share pictures since I see none from other buyers. I was pleasantly surprised at the size - lengthy, yes, but also a good coffee table sized book. For the price, and due to the high reviews from other aficionados, I bought without looking at dimensions. Being so reasonably priced, I figured it would be on the smaller size. Iâ€™m actually looking forward to perusing it after he reads it.*It did come with a slight bend/warp, but I didnâ€™t think it significant enough to exchange.

The photography was great (some of the reporters did not make it home.). I was just a young boy during the war, but I remember it like it was yesterday ). I remember watching news reports in the theaters. I remember very vividly the day President Roosevelt died (my Mother cried a lot when she heard the news ,then of course I cried)

They say a picture paints a thousand words, and if that's the case this book paints a good 500,000 words. Combing over everything from the pre-war years into the 50s, this book does a good job covering stuff.In a lot of ways the pictures have a way of drawing you there, right to Operation Barbosa on the eastern front or the tank battles in North Africa or the war in the Pacific. I've read a lot of war books, but the ones with a lot of pictures are always the most powerful.Some of the pictures can be graphic, so if intended for younger readers be aware.

this was a gift for my husband who loved it!!! and he's got pretty much every WWII item imaginable. he particularly enjoyed the facts presented in this book as well as the photos. i couldnt be happier as he's a hard person to shop for and this was a major win in his book- yay! i also bought one for my father-in-law. i can't wait to see his reaction too!

This book was purchased for my son, who had a growing interest in WWII. He was very happy with it. It's a large book that can be a "coffee table" book, but it also quite informative with picture narratives and text. It is a heavy, high quality product. It arrived in two days.

I bought this book for my grandfather's 94th birthday as he's a WWII vet. He has been an avid reader all his life but is losing his vision and focus a little bit, so finding a photo book like this was perfect for him to engage with. He loves it!
